The students will get a great physical workout and gain valuable insight into the art and athleticism of dance. Learn how to become a SuperDancer …the LehrerDance way!

^ LehrerDance master classes focus on the 3 main elements that embody the company’s  trademark athletic style: Circularity, 3-Dimensionality, and Momentum. The exercises and warm-ups utilize these elements to prepare the dancer for movement that is best describe as “Organically Athletic”. The LehrerDance class integrates the approach and fluidity of modern dance with the excitement and energy of jazz dance to create an expressive, engrossing style of movement. Learn the technique, style, and repertoire that Dance Magazine says is, “on the cusp of jazz/modern fusion.”

Here is a sample of the critical acclaim LehrerDance has received:

PRESS & REVIEWS

Dance Magazine

“LehrerDance took the house not so much by storm as by quantum physics.”

“Jon Lehrer’s strikingly original choreography transformed the stage into an energy field of super-charged particles.”

“LehrerDance is on the cusp of jazz/modern fusion.”

“Surprise landings and tableaux that sliced space into unexpected geometrics kept the audience on the edge of their seats.”

“LehrerDance… already shows a distinctive movement signature and richness of repertory that take most companies years to develop.”

Dance Source Houston

“Funny and facetious, Lehrer’s mad, musical interpretation freshened up the score and put the audience (myself included) right in the palm of his hand to be carried along for the ride.”

“Beneath Lehrer’s contemporary jazz soundtrack is a sophisticated fusion of classic movement vocabularies and all-things-considered choreography.”

“If there is something you can expect from this work, it is that it is going to go somewhere unexpected. This delightful trend is what brought the JCC audience to its feet. “Y’all come back now.” LehrerDance is welcome any time on Houston turf.”

Chicago Tribune

“I don’t recall ever meeting a work by Jon Lehrer I didn’t like.”

“Lehrer’s sharp choreography requires honest acting over hapless mugging and expertly entwines humor and pain”

Chicago Sun-Times

“Lehrer and the dancers of his wonderfully game Buffalo-based dance company, LehrerDance, were funny and brilliant at the same time.”

Chicago Reader

“Jon Lehrer’s delightful Bridge and Tunnel, set Paul Simon songs, is a playful hymn to the sidewalks of the outer boroughs…it’s a first rate sample of American vernacular dance, a genre whose distinguished heritage includes Jerome Robbins’s Fancy Free, Agnes DeMille’s Rodeo, and Gene Kelley’s ‘Singin’ in the Rain’ solo.”

Chicago Examiner

“Jon Lehrer has been a leading innovator in the field of grounded and well-crafted jazz-inspired eclecticism.”

Buffalo News

“Not since the 1980‘s with the now defunct Empire State Ballet has Buffalo’s dance community had such a presence on the national dance scene.”

Artvoice Buffalo

“After rave reviews in Dance Magazine and the Chicago Tribune, the cover of Dance Teacher—an impressive resume—what dance fan wouldn’t be jazzed that Lehrer chose Buffalo to plunk down his anchor.”

“Daredevilish partnering, risky cantilever moves, and nonstop virtuosity characterize the LehrerDance aesthetic.”

Buffalo Rising

“One of the great things about LehrerDance and a reason for its wide appeal and quick success is its accessibility and artistic nature, all rolled into one.”
